When one thinks about singing a song, I can only imagine what that is like. Having a background in the High School Band, I understand to the point of performing, but to sing; well that’s another realm.
Words and tones of the words seem to demonstrate something very powerful doesn’t it?
When you speak is one thing, but when you voice the words into a song, it strikes a chord! There is something profound, powerful, phenomenal, unfathomable, mesmerizing, mysterious, and just simply amazing about music and voice. People that are talented with the gift of song, NEVER GIVE UP on something that they have a passion for! Something they love! You hear so many songs from artists that give their personal stories that drove them to their success and even those that did not succeed like they hoped, they conquered something many can’t do.
I recall hearing certain birds just chirp their hearts away as if talking to someone from a distance. Then you hear the high pitched chirps of baby chicks. One mother made a next of 5 eggs right nest to our back door which is inconvenient, but we are working around that. The mother of those eggs actually dives at us, makes all kinds of racket and never gives up until she feels they are out of danger. After a while knowing we are no threat, she lightens up. But she NEVER GAVE UP! NEVER LET GO!
Did you know God loves a joyful person! Scripture does mention God loves a cheerful giver! Giver of finance most people think, but how about giver of Love, compassion, a smile, a beautiful song to help a person.
When I think about a cheerful giver, I can always reflect on what Christ has done for me and you, but also I can remember my mother!
The one person that carried me in the womb for months, all the while preparing me for a journey not knowing where I would end up. Isn’t that something each of us have in common? I also speak about those that never knew their biological mothers, but had someone to love them just as a mother. Those are recognized very heartful and note worthy for certain! And there are those that never had a mother period! God was their mother!
I remember my mother telling me how hard it was on her to deliver me naturally. Then as I got older, how a wirily child I was with lots of energy and spunk; and so on! I’m sure many of you heard much the same story!
We remember things we was told from our mothers, but one thing mothers don’t tell us very often, is how joyous they was when we was born. Yes they remember the agony and pain, sleepless nights, but the moment of birth, it was very joyous for them. They have a ‘new’ song in their hearts that God placed there!
There is just something special about a mother. When I was deaf in my youth, my mother never gave up on me to gain knowledge in a school system that did fail children with disabilities. With lots of prayer and dedication, I succeeded with God and my mothers helping hand. They NEVER GAVE UP because she NEVER LET GO!
On a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore.
His mother, in the house, was looking out the window and saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother.
It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator. Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved. The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs; and then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, ''But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my mom wouldn't let go.''
Thank God, we may have battle scars, but they remind us that the nail-scarred hands of the Lord Jesus NEVER LET US GO!
Now sometimes, mothers tolerate a lot of heart ache! Sometimes not even their own fault!
A little girl watched, fascinated, as her mother gently rubbed cold cream on her face. ''Why are you rubbing cold cream on your face, Mommy?'' she asked. ''To make myself beautiful,'' said her mother. A few minutes later, she began removing the cream with a tissue. ''What's the matter?'' she asked. ''Are you giving up?''
Out of the mouth of babes!
Even though the mother of this girl wished her daughter kept her mouth shut, she still has a love that will never go away fully. But I’m sure she NEVER GAVE UP on her!
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Here friends, Jesus gives us something we sometimes forget. Our family is also those around us especially those that does the will of God the Father.
Having a biological family is not the only ones to be recognized on a day like today, but all those whom has been a mother to you in some way!
The song we can sing friends, is a song of joy, song of love, a new song that gives us peace that surpasses all understanding that can only come from Christ. When family fails, when mothers are not in your life, God is there.
Hear the words of Psalms
When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.
Even though friends, we recognize mothers, our earthly fathers are just as important and in the same category!
If you have a bitter spirit with your parents, if you have strong negative feelings that seem to drive you into despair, if you have unforgiveness lingering in your heart towards them, if you only could see them one last time knowing before they left you had unsaid things to say to them; go to God my friends! He is our ever present help in our daily walk. Nothing surprises God, nothing is too wonderful for God to do for you!
Listen to me! ITS OK!
GOD IS THERE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!
So on this mothers day, I ask each of you to thank your mother, those that have been and are a mother to you. It is special thing knowing your mother on a day like today, but so many friends do not have that capability. Remember those in prayer.
God will NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU, do you know why? Because GOD WILL NEVER LET GO! Even if others on this earth have. Trust in the great redeemer, the true shepherd, and always stay connected to the true vine. Amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
